The Shared Reality Practice

Choose one embodied activity with another person.

A simple practice for returning to repeated, local, embodied connection.

What this practice is for

This practice helps you move from abstract connection toward shared reality.

How long it takes

Choose an activity that lasts at least thirty minutes and can be repeated.

Steps

  1. Pick one person or small group you want more real connection with.
  2. Choose one embodied activity: a walk, meal, work session, reading hour, or simple gathering.
  3. Schedule it as a repeated practice, not a one-time ideal.
  4. During the activity, keep phones away unless needed for the activity itself.
  5. Afterward, ask what felt more real because you were present together.

Reflection question

What changed when attention was shared in the same place instead of split across many places?

Optional group version

End by naming one small thing that should happen again.
